In this short documentary, archer Jonathan Acfalle told me his story about how he came to love being a bowman and how important the craft is. He shares his journey, inspirations, and the impact a father can have by teaching his son what he knows. Shooting and editing this piece was truly an honor. Thank you, Jon, for telling me your story.
Friend and fellow video creator Dan Goodman takes us behind the scenes in the making of his horror comedy short. I had almost as much fun shooting the behind-the-scenes footage as he did making the original!
This is one of the longest projects I have ever done. For four months, I shot and collected other shots from my team to encapsulate our deployment on USS Essex. This is my favorite video that I have done in the Navy.
Professor Lisa Chaddock and the San Diego City College Audobon Club are working hard to change the urban habitat to a more bird-friendly environment. This video was a collaboration of a few different people, and my contribution was the footage of the birds and the entire final edit.
This short piece was made for mobile screens, and motion graphics was the goal. Every effect was made in After Effects and made from scratch. This process was new to me, but seeing the result and my talent for motion graphic design was a worthwhile journey.
We all need skits in our portfolio. Of course, if that skit is about skits being about skits. it makes it either really good or really bad. Actually, it might be both. Dan Goodman stars in this short piece about a student trying to come up with an idea for a short piece.
Learning how to edit cinema-grade footage is not an easy task, but it's very creatively gratifying. This project was a re-edit of one scene of a short film by writer/director Cy Kuckenbaker. I had not watched the piece before and wasn't told the overall plot. The original can be watched here, and the scene I re-edited takes place at 13:53 - 15:49.
This was shot in my hometown of Melbourne, Fl. Against the Grain Tattoo is a shop owned by couple Lisa Murphy and Wes Diffie (my parents, of course), and they celebrated 20 years of making the art that lasts forever. I'm not saying I was intoxicated while shooting this, but wouldn't it make it more impressive if I were saying that?
Sailors qualifying for armed security duty undergo this course; they are sprayed with oleoresin capsaicin and then put through a series of physical tests. OC spray is like cutting onions if the onions were demonic entities that just want to hurt. After completing this course myself months before, I took a mad and gleeful pleasure shooting and editing this piece.
